Born in Manning, South Carolina, Andy was a proud alumnus of Newberry College. His passion for community engagement and youth development led him to a fulfilling career in parks and recreation. As the Athletic Director for the Laurens Parks & Recreation Department, Andy played a pivotal role in shaping the department’s programs and initiatives. His commitment to fostering community spirit and promoting active lifestyles was evident in every project he undertook.
In early 2024, Andy was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma. Demonstrating immense courage and resilience, he chose to forgo aggressive treatments, focusing instead on quality time with his loved ones and the community he cherished. Despite his health challenges, Andy remained actively involved in departmental activities, even throwing out the first pitch at a Coach Pitch game—a testament to his unwavering dedication and love for the community.
Andy is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Julia Tisdale McLeod, and their family. His legacy is etched in the countless lives he touched—through mentorship, leadership, and genuine friendship. The programs he developed and the community bonds he strengthened will continue to benefit Laurens for generations to come.
