The community of Newington, Connecticut, is mourning the loss of four individuals following a tragic multi-vehicle collision on the morning of Saturday, April 19, 2025. The accident occurred around 9:00 a.m. at the intersection of Willard Avenue and Greenlawn Avenue, involving three vehicles and resulting in four fatalities and one minor injury .
Among the victims were 17-year-old Gabriela Difo, a senior at Newington High School; her mother, Florinda Tineo; and her aunt, Jeannette Tineo . The identity of the fourth victim has not been publicly released. Gabriela’s younger sister, Grace Difo, a junior at Newington High School, and Jayriel Garcia, a freshman and son of Jeannette Tineo, were not involved in the crash but are grieving the loss of their loved ones .
In response to the tragedy, Newington Public Schools have mobilized crisis support teams to assist students and staff. Superintendent Maureen Brummett and Principal Terra Tigno have expressed their condolences and are working closely with the affected families to provide necessary support .
