SHREVEPORT, LA — Personal Dispute Turns Violent in Broadmoor Neighborhood, Leaving One Critically Injured

A quiet Thursday afternoon in Shreveport’s Broadmoor neighborhood was shattered by gunfire, as a personal dispute escalated into a violent confrontation that left a man in his 30s critically wounded. The incident occurred just after 3 p.m. on Greenway Place, a typically calm residential street now marked by flashing police lights and crime scene tape.

According to Shreveport Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Donna Jackson, officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Greenway Place following multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered the victim lying near the driveway of a private residence, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services quickly transported the man to Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport, where he was listed in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators believe the shooting was the result of a heated altercation between the victim and a known acquaintance. While specific details regarding the nature of the dispute have not yet been disclosed, authorities confirmed that it was personal in nature, not random. Witnesses on the scene described a loud argument preceding the gunshots, which prompted several neighbors to call emergency services.

“This appears to be an isolated incident stemming from a personal conflict,” Sgt. Jackson told reporters. “There is no indication at this time that the broader community is at risk, but we are continuing to investigate all aspects of what led to this confrontation.”

No arrests have been made as of Thursday evening, but police have identified a person of interest. Detectives canvassed the area, collecting surveillance footage and interviewing potential witnesses. Several residents expressed shock and concern over the outbreak of violence on their street.

“It’s just heartbreaking,” said Margaret Ellis, a longtime Broadmoor resident. “This is usually such a peaceful area. You don’t expect something like this to happen just a few houses down.”

The incident is the latest in a troubling trend of domestic or personal disputes turning deadly in Shreveport and surrounding areas. Law enforcement officials and community advocates continue to emphasize the importance of conflict resolution and mental health resources as tools to prevent such tragedies.

“We’re urging the community to seek help when tensions rise—whether it’s through counseling, mediation, or simply reaching out to someone who can help de-escalate,” said Reverend Thomas Greene, a local pastor who also works with violence prevention initiatives in the city. “Too often, situations that could be resolved peacefully end in gunfire.”

As the investigation continues, police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. Tipsters can contact Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373 or use the P3 Tips mobile app to provide information anonymously.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released, pending notification of family members.

This violent episode serves as a sobering reminder of how quickly personal conflicts can spiral out of control—and the lasting impact such violence has on families, neighborhoods, and the broader community. As Shreveport continues to grapple with issues of gun violence and community safety, incidents like the one on Greenway Place reinforce the urgent need for preventative action and dialogue.
