Of course — here is a longer, heartfelt obituary honoring the life of Bernardo “BJ” Lugo:

In Loving Memory of Bernardo “BJ” Lugo
East Chicago, Indiana
March 12, 1994 – April 23, 2025

With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Bernardo “BJ” Lugo, who left this world far too soon on April 23, 2025, at the age of 31. A lifelong resident of East Chicago, Indiana, BJ touched the lives of so many with his kind soul, infectious smile, and the unwavering love he gave to his family and friends.

BJ was the kind of person who left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Whether it was through his genuine laughter, thoughtful conversations, or his willingness to lend a helping hand, he brought light into every room. His presence was both comforting and uplifting, and those who knew him best will remember his strength, resilience, and the way he made people feel seen and loved.

He leaves behind a legacy rooted in love, laughter, and loyalty. BJ’s beloved mother was the center of his world, and his bond with his siblings was unbreakable—filled with shared memories, mutual respect, and unconditional support. As an uncle, he was adored. His nieces and nephews were a constant source of pride and joy for him, and he embraced that role with both playfulness and heart. He was a protector, a role model, and a source of endless affection.

Though his time here was short, BJ lived a life full of meaning. He valued relationships above all else and carried himself with humility and grace. He found joy in the simple things—music, family gatherings, long talks, and moments of connection that truly mattered. His loss is felt deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A visitation in his honor will be held on April 27th, followed by a funeral service on April 28th at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Chicago. It will be a time for loved ones to gather, reflect, and celebrate the life of a man who gave so much and asked for so little in return.

As we mourn the passing of Bernardo “BJ” Lugo, let us also celebrate the beautiful life he lived. Let us hold on to the memories, carry his spirit in our hearts, and keep his family close in our thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

BJ, you are deeply loved, and you will never be forgotten.
