On March 16, 2025, the world lost a shining light when Chantel Charity Lynn Jackson Vaughn passed away peacefully, surrounded by those who loved her most. Though her time here was far too short, her impact on her family, friends, and the Fernandina Beach community will live on forever.

Chantel was a woman defined by her passions, her unbreakable spirit, and the joy she brought into every room she entered. Dance was one of her deepest loves — an art form that allowed her to express the vibrancy of her soul. Whether it was ballet, contemporary, or simply twirling around the kitchen with her son, Chantel’s movements were full of life, energy, and pure happiness. Her passion for dance wasn’t just a hobby; it was a language through which she communicated love, resilience, and freedom.

Beyond her talents, Chantel was cherished for her radiant personality. She carried an infectious laugh, a warm heart, and a strength that inspired everyone she met. Those fortunate enough to know her speak of her kindness, her unwavering loyalty, and her ability to make even the smallest moments unforgettable. As Fernandina Beach mourns the loss of one of its brightest spirits, we also come together to celebrate the incredible legacy Chantel leaves behind. Her life was a testament to the power of compassion, creativity, and joy. She reminded all of us that life is meant to be danced through, even in the face of hardship.

In honor of Chantel’s beautiful life, a Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held in July, where family, friends, and the community will gather to remember, reflect, and continue to share the kindness and light that she so effortlessly gave to the world. It will be a day filled with stories, laughter, and dance — just as Chantel would have wanted.

As we say goodbye, we also make a promise: to keep Chantel’s spirit alive by living as she did — with passion, kindness, and an open heart. Though she may be gone from our sight, Chantel Charity Lynn Jackson Vaughn’s legacy will forever move through the lives she touched, like a beautiful, never-ending dance.
