Valparaiso, Indiana

Brendan Drew Black, age 26, of Valparaiso, Indiana, and formerly of Hobart, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 25, 2025. His passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Brendan was a devoted father, a passionate athlete, and a fiercely loyal friend—qualities that defined his life and legacy.

Born and raised in Hobart, Brendan carried with him the strong values instilled by his close-knit family and community. From an early age, he demonstrated a zest for life, an infectious laugh, and a compassion that made him unforgettable. As a young man, he developed a love for sports that grew into a lifelong passion. Whether it was on the football field, basketball court, or simply playing a pickup game with friends, Brendan’s competitive spirit and team-first attitude made him a natural leader and a cherished teammate.

Yet above all else, Brendan’s greatest pride and purpose in life came from being a father to his two beloved daughters, Drew and Charlie. His bond with them was unbreakable. He was not only their protector and provider, but their biggest cheerleader, their storyteller, their warm embrace at the end of a long day. Brendan cherished every second spent with his girls—whether it was weekend outings, bedtime snuggles, or simply singing along to their favorite songs. He lit up around them, and they lit up around him.

Those who knew Brendan will remember his open heart, his unwavering loyalty, and his ability to make everyone feel seen and loved. His kindness wasn’t loud—it was steady, intentional, and always sincere. He was the kind of friend who would drop everything to help someone in need, who stayed in touch even when life got busy, and who never ended a conversation without reminding you how much he cared.

Brendan lived with heart and faith, carrying himself with quiet strength through life’s ups and downs. Even in the face of challenges, he showed resilience, hope, and a belief that tomorrow could be better. His generosity was boundless—not just in material ways, but in the time and love he gave to those around him.

He is survived by his daughters, Drew and Charlie; his parents; extended family; and a wide circle of friends who will forever hold his memory close. Though his time on Earth was far too short, the impact Brendan made will endure. He leaves behind not just memories, but a legacy of love, loyalty, and light.

In honoring Brendan’s life, may we strive to live as he did—with an open heart, unwavering devotion to family, and the courage to show up for those we love.

Rest in peace, Brendan. Your spirit lives on in every hug, every laugh, and every act of kindness inspired by your memory.
