On Sunday, August 27, 2023, around 1:00 p.m., two boats—a pontoon and a speedboat—collided near the Sugarloaf area of the lake in Cleburne County. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission reported that six individuals were involved in the crash, with three people on each vessel. The collision resulted in one fatality and four injuries.
