In Loving Memory of Barry Finley “Ehlers” Wallace
Winnetka, Illinois
1987 – 2025

With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we share the passing of Barry Finley “Ehlers” Wallace, who departed this world far too soon on April 25, 2025, at the age of 37. A devoted son, loving husband, dedicated father, and loyal friend, Barry leaves behind a legacy of kindness, creativity, and unwavering love for those closest to him.

Born and raised in Winnetka, Illinois, Barry was a spirited and compassionate individual whose presence lit up every room he entered. Known to many simply as “Ehlers,” a name that carried both warmth and humor, Barry was a man who lived life with intensity and heart. He believed in the strength of family, the power of friendship, and the importance of leaving the world a little better than he found it.

Barry’s life was rooted in love — the love he had for his mother, who nurtured his generous soul; for his wife, his steadfast partner and confidante; and for his children, who were the pride and joy of his life. To them, he was not only a provider and protector, but also a teacher, storyteller, and source of endless encouragement. His siblings and extended family knew him as someone who could be counted on — for a helping hand, a listening ear, or a moment of levity during hard times.

A graduate of New Trier High School, Barry later pursued studies in communications and design, eventually building a career that reflected his creative passions and sharp intellect. His colleagues admired his dedication, attention to detail, and the unique perspective he brought to every project. Outside of work, Barry found joy in music, photography, long bike rides along Lake Michigan, and spontaneous adventures with his children.

Barry was the kind of friend who remembered birthdays, who showed up when it mattered, and who never failed to deliver a well-timed joke or comforting word. He had an extraordinary ability to make others feel seen and valued — a rare gift that touched countless lives.

A memorial service to honor Barry’s life will be held on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, at the Winnetka Congregational Church. Family, friends, and all those who knew and loved Barry are invited to join in remembering a life that, while far too short, was undeniably impactful.

As we grieve this tremendous loss, we also celebrate the beautiful soul that Barry was. We hold close the memories — the laughter, the quiet moments, the unconditional love — and carry forward the lessons he left behind: to love fiercely, to live fully, and to always be kind.

Please keep Barry and the Wallace family in your thoughts during this difficult time.
