In the early hours of Saturday, May 10, 2025, the Morrisania section of The Bronx was shaken by a tragic hit-and-run incident that claimed the life of 43-year-old Kelvin Mitchell, a devoted father of three and a cherished member of the Claremont community. As he crossed Webster Avenue between East 168th and East 169th Streets, a black Mercedes-Benz struck him in the crosswalk and fled the scene, leaving behind a trail of grief and unanswered questions.

Surveillance footage captured moments before the incident shows a black vehicle speeding down the street at approximately 12:41 a.m., with what appears to be an NYPD vehicle following closely behind. Mitchell was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after. The driver responsible for the collision did not remain at the scene, and as of now, no arrests have been made.
