Beaumont Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a deadly shooting that took place over the weekend, shedding light on a tragic incident that unfolded during what should have been a routine gathering. Authorities confirmed Monday evening that 30-year-old Travon Alexander has been charged with murder following the fatal shooting of 33-year-old Joel Jenkins.
The incident occurred late Saturday night in a residential neighborhood on the city’s north side, where friends had gathered for a casual game of dominoes—a common social pastime in the Beaumont community. What began as a seemingly innocuous evening quickly escalated into violence, with investigators saying a heated argument broke out during the game. Witnesses reported that the tension grew quickly and culminated in gunfire, leaving one man fatally wounded.
When first responders arrived at the scene, they found Jenkins suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
