On May 13, 2025, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 43-year-old Carlos Gonzalez, a certified substitute teacher with the Fresno Unified School District, on charges related to online child exploitation. Gonzalez is accused of sending harmful material to a minor and attempting to meet with a child for sexual purposes.
The investigation was conducted by detectives from the Central California Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and Homeland Security Investigations. Authorities allege that Gonzalez used the social media app Kik to communicate with the child.
The Fresno Unified School District has not publicly commented on the arrest. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to identify any additional potential victims.
Gonzalez is currently in custody, and formal charges are pending. The case highlights the importance of vigilance in monitoring online interactions between adults and minors.
