Montgomery, AL – A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a violent double shooting that took place last month in Montgomery, Alabama, leaving one man dead and another wounded. Authorities confirmed that MyQuarious Xavier Solomon was taken into custody on Friday and has been formally charged with murder and attempted murder.
The charges stem from a shooting incident that occurred on the night of April 17, 2025, in the 3200 block of Brookwood Drive, a quiet residential area now shaken by the tragedy. According to Montgomery Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Tina McGriff, officers and fire medics were dispatched to the scene around 8:39 p.m. in response to a call reporting multiple gunshot victims.
Upon arrival, first responders discovered two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were immediately transported to a nearby hospital. Tragically, 21-year-old Jaquan Lewis succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the medical facility. The second victim, whose name has not been released, was treated for injuries described as non-life-threatening.
At this stage, law enforcement officials have not disclosed what led to the shooting or what connection, if any, Solomon had to the victims. The motive behind the gunfire remains under investigation, and authorities have yet to provide further details about the events leading up to the deadly confrontation.
Solomon was formally booked into the Montgomery County Detention Facility at 11 a.m. Friday, just weeks after the incident rocked the local community. It is not yet known whether he has retained legal counsel, nor have any details been released regarding his bond or upcoming court appearance.
