Washington Elementary School. The incident, which occurred around 2:30 p.m. near the intersection of West Capitol Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, sent shockwaves across the city and prompted an urgent lockdown of the nearby elementary school, highlighting the mounting crisis of gun violence in Mississippi’s capital.
Tragedy Strikes Near School Grounds
