It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas McCann Tj, who departed this life on May 20, 2025, at the age of 34. A beloved son, father, brother, and friend, Thomas’s presence brought warmth, laughter, and light to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born and raised in Mediapolis, Iowa, Thomas lived a life rooted in family, compassion, and community. Known for his kind heart and quick wit, he had a unique ability to make others feel seen, heard, and valued. His laughter was infectious, and his spirit, unwavering even in difficult times, inspired those around him.
Thomas was a man who loved deeply—most especially his children, who were his greatest pride and joy. As a father, he was devoted, playful, and nurturing, always making time for his kids, whether it was helping with homework, cheering from the sidelines at their games, or simply sharing quiet moments together. His bond with them was a testament to the type of man he was: loving, reliable, and fiercely protective.
He is survived by his parents, who instilled in him a strong sense of integrity and compassion; his children, who will forever carry his legacy in their hearts; and his siblings, who admired his strength and loyalty. His family was the center of his world, and he never hesitated to show how much he cared.
Thomas also leaves behind a close circle of friends who describe him as someone you could always count on. A memorial service to celebrate Thomas’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2025, at Prugh Funeral Service. Friends, family, and community members are invited to come together in remembrance of a life well-lived and to honor the enduring legacy he leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established to support his children’s future. Contributions to this fund are a meaningful way to carry forward Thomas’s dedication to his family and to ensure that his love and care continue to shape their lives.
As we say goodbye, we hold tight to the memories that make us smile, the moments that brought us joy, and the love that continues to bind us. Though Thomas is no longer with us in body, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
