STATESVILLE, NC — May 21, 2025 — A violent stabbing incident unfolded late Wednesday morning on Davie Avenue, leaving one man critically injured and prompting a swift response from local law enforcement. Authorities have arrested 31-year-old Jordan Austin Reid of Statesville in connection with the attack, which occurred just before noon at 2580 Davie Avenue.
At approximately 11:40 a.m., officers with the Statesville Police Department were dispatched to the location following reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, they found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. Emergency medical personnel from Iredell County EMS, along with firefighters from the Statesville Fire Department, provided immediate medical assistance. The victim was initially transported to Iredell Memorial Hospital but was later airlifted to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem due to the severity of the injuries. Officials have confirmed the victim remains in critical but stable condition.
Authorities quickly secured the scene and launched an investigation, which led them to a nearby location—the parking lot of the Hallmark Inn—where Reid was taken into custody without incident. Officers recovered the weapon believed to have been used in the assault during a search of Reid’s person. The surrounding area, including portions of Davie Avenue, was temporarily shut down as investigators worked the extensive crime scene.
According to police, surveillance footage and eyewitness accounts reveal that the incident began as a physical altercation inside a business at 2580 Davie Avenue. During the confrontation, Reid allegedly produced a knife and began stabbing the victim multiple times. The victim attempted to escape the attack by fleeing the building, but Reid followed, continuing the assault in the parking lot. The victim eventually collapsed in the roadway, while Reid reportedly returned to the Hallmark Inn, where officers located and arrested him shortly thereafter.
Detectives later executed a search warrant on Reid’s room at the Hallmark Inn, uncovering further evidence believed to be linked to the violent encounter.
Reid has since been formally charged in relation to the stabbing and was presented before a magistrate. He is currently being held on a $25,000 secured bond.
