Wanted Subject Anthony Porter Taken Into Custody Following Deputies’ Response on Knotts Street

 

Kern County, CA – May 22, 2025 — On Thursday afternoon, at approximately 3:30 p.m., deputies with the Kern County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) responded to a residence in the 700 block of Knotts Street in Bakersfield in an effort to locate and apprehend a wanted individual, identified as 31-year-old Anthony Porter, a resident of Bakersfield.

The deputies’ response was part of an ongoing investigation into Porter’s whereabouts related to an active arrest warrant. Porter was known to law enforcement for a history of criminal offenses, and his outstanding warrant included multiple serious charges, such as numerous weapons violations, resisting arrest accompanied by threats of violence, and violation of parole.

Upon arrival at the residence, deputies located Porter inside. Despite repeated lawful commands, Porter refused to comply, prompting a prolonged standoff during which deputies attempted to de-escalate the situation through continued verbal negotiations. The safety of all parties, including Porter, residents in the area, and the responding officers, remained a top priority throughout the encounter.

After an extended period of negotiation, Porter ultimately complied with the deputies’ orders. He was taken into custody without further incident, and no injuries were reported.

Following his arrest, Porter was transported to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Central Receiving Facility, where he was formally booked on the charges outlined in his warrant. These include a series of weapons-related offenses, resisting arrest with threats of violence, and a parole violation.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and any potential additional criminal activity related to Porter.
