Ann Arbor Township, Washtenaw County – In the early morning hours of Sunday, May 25, 2025, troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Brighton Post responded to a severe single-vehicle crash on northbound US-23 near Geddes Road in Ann Arbor Township, Washtenaw County.
At approximately 3:02 A.M., dispatch received reports of a crash involving a vehicle that had crossed the median and rolled multiple times. Upon arrival, troopers located a heavily damaged 2018 Nissan Rogue, which preliminary investigation indicates had been traveling southbound on US-23 when the 17-year-old male driver from Ypsilanti lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle veered across the median into the northbound lanes and rolled several times before coming to a stop.
Responding troopers found the driver ejected from the vehicle, indicating he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Inside the wreckage, a 16-year-old female passenger was discovered trapped in the vehicle and required extrication by emergency responders.
Both occupants were transported to Trinity Health Hospital in Ann Arbor. The driver remains in critical condition, while the passenger is reported to be in stable condition.
As a result of the crash and emergency response, northbound US-23 was closed at Geddes Road from approximately 3:00 A.M. to 6:00 A.M. to allow for investigation, medical assistance, and cleanup.
The investigation remains ongoing. However, early findings suggest that alcohol or drugs may have played a role in the incident. Toxicology results are pending.
