On Christmas Day 2024, the tight-knit community of Bishopville, South Carolina, was shaken by the tragic loss of 39-year-old Calandra Nicole Troy, affectionately known as “Nay Nay.” A devoted mother of five, Calandra was fatally shot in a drive-by attack outside her home in the Piedmont Road area, just off Highway 15 .
Calandra was celebrated for her unwavering love and dedication to her children. Family and friends recall her as a vibrant presence who cherished moments spent with loved ones. Her daughter, Patience Troy, fondly remembered Thanksgiving gatherings filled with dancing and laughter, while another daughter, Evia Wilson, cherished quiet times watching movies with her mother .
A family friend, Prissie Aerianiah, highlighted Calandra’s protective nature, recounting how her youngest child acted swiftly during the shooting to shield a sibling, potentially preventing further tragedy.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting occurred around 5:45 p.m. on December 25, 2024. Calandra and another individual were shot and transported to Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center in Hartsville. Calandra succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at 6:47 p.m. The condition of the second victim remains unknown .
