Carrie Elaine Hall, 50, Fatally Shot by Law Enforcement During Traffic Stop in Bartow County

On the evening of Wednesday, May 28, 2025, 50-year-old Carrie Elaine Hall of Cartersville was fatally shot by law enforcement officers during a traffic stop in Bartow County, Georgia. The incident is currently under investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).

Incident Overview

According to preliminary information released by the GBI, the sequence of events began when Hall allegedly arrived at a residence in Bartow County and discharged a firearm. The homeowner, who was acquainted with Hall, identified her and provided her name to responding deputies from the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 8:40 p.m., deputies, with assistance from a Cartersville Police Department officer, located Hall’s vehicle at the intersection of State Route 20 (Canton Highway) and Conference Center Drive in Cartersville. They initiated a felony traffic stop.

During the stop, Hall exited her vehicle while armed with a gun. Despite repeated verbal commands from law enforcement to disarm, she did not comply. Subsequently, deputies and the officer discharged their firearms, striking Hall. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Records indicate that Hall had prior interactions with law enforcement. In January 2025, she was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including aggravated assault with a firearm, terroristic threats, and theft by receiving stolen property. She was released on bond shortly thereafter.
