TRAFFIC/FOOT CHASE INCIDENT – FULL REPORT
the evening of May 30, Michigan State Police (MSP) units were involved in a rapidly developing incident near the intersection of Union and Schaefer in Genesee County. At approximately 6:45 PM, troopers attempted to stop a vehicle that was reportedly driving suspiciously. However, the vehicle failed to immediately comply with law enforcement commands to pull over.
Witnesses in the area described the vehicle moving at slow speeds—approximately 25 mph—with law enforcement not initiating an active pursuit due to the low speed and uncertain threat level. Officers maintained visual observation and coordinated backup in the surrounding area, preparing for a possible escalation.
🏃♂️Foot Pursuit Ensues
Shortly after, one of the vehicle’s occupants exited and fled on foot near Genesee Market, running westbound toward Bond Street. MSP units and possibly other assisting officers began a foot pursuit through yards and over fences as the suspect attempted to evade capture.
During the foot pursuit, officers issued multiple verbal commands for the suspect to stop. When the commands were ignored and the fleeing suspect posed a potential threat, a taser was deployed. The non-lethal intervention was successful, and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
🔫Weapon Recovered
Following the arrest, MSP officers initiated a thorough search of the suspect’s path and the vehicle’s surrounding area. During this investigation, a firearm was discovered and recovered at the corner of Union and Stark. The weapon was located shortly after the suspect was apprehended and is believed to have been in the suspect’s possession prior to the chase.
The firearm is now being held as evidence as part of the ongoing investigation. It has not yet been confirmed whether it was reported stolen or if the suspect is legally allowed to possess a weapon.
🚓Charges & Investigation
The identity of the suspect has not been publicly released at this time. Charges are likely to include:
- Fleeing and eluding

- Potential traffic violations
The Michigan State Police have not issued an official press release but are expected to provide more details as the investigation progresses.
