In Loving Memory of Herschel Augustus Chapman
Colorado Springs, CO
1959 – 2025
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we share the passing of Herschel Augustus Chapman, who departed this life on May 30, 2025, at the age of 65, after a courageous and private battle with illness.
Born and raised with deep roots in the Colorado Springs community, Herschel lived a life marked by quiet strength, compassion, and an unwavering devotion to the people he loved. A proud father to three beloved daughters and a treasured grandfather, Herschel was the kind of man whose family always came first. Whether it was helping with school projects, cheering from the sidelines, or simply being a steady presence at family dinners, he embodied love, loyalty, and steadfast support. His children and grandchildren were his greatest joy, and his love for them knew no bounds.
A man of the outdoors, Herschel found peace in nature. He had a special fondness for the Colorado landscape—the mountains, the fresh air, the simple beauty of being outside. Whether it was hiking, fishing, or just sitting quietly and taking in the world around him, Herschel found meaning in the natural world and often shared that peace with those closest to him.
For 13 years, Herschel proudly operated Elite Pest Control, a local business he built with dedication, integrity, and genuine care for his customers. His work was never just about the job—it was about helping people, solving problems, and forming long-term relationships grounded in trust. Many clients became friends, and many friends became like family. His reputation was one of excellence, reliability, and kindness, and he took pride in being a part of the lives and homes of so many in the Colorado Springs community.
Herschel’s life was a testament to perseverance. He faced every challenge with resilience and grace, quietly inspiring others with his courage. Even in the most difficult moments, he never lost his sense of humor, his gentleness, or his ability to lift those around him. He taught us to cherish every moment, to find strength in love, and to meet adversity with dignity.
His passing leaves a space that cannot be filled, but his memory will live on—in every story told, every laugh shared, and every moment spent in the presence of those who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy is one of love, laughter, hard work, and the quiet power of a good heart.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to those who have supported the Chapman family during this difficult time. Your kindness has been a great comfort.
A private celebration of life will be held with family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take a walk in nature, share a story with someone you love, or offer a small act of kindness in Herschel’s memory.
Rest well, Herschel. Your spirit will always be with us, in the mountains you loved, in the hearts you touched, and in the lives forever changed by your presence.
