9:45 p.m. | June 1, 2025 — HOMICIDE UPDATE: ARREST MADE
The Danville Police Department announced a significant breakthrough in the ongoing homicide investigation stemming from the tragic shooting incident on Carver Drive that claimed the life of 22-year-old Jay’Shaun Tiejae White, of Hurt, Virginia.
Earlier today, June 1, 2025, law enforcement officers located and arrested 26-year-old Juwan Montel Baker, a Danville resident, in connection with the deadly shooting. Baker was a passenger in the Chrysler sedan where White’s body was discovered at the scene.
At this time, Juwan Montel Baker faces multiple serious charges, including:

3 counts of Discharging a Firearm from a Moving Vehicle

3 counts of Malicious Wounding

3 counts of Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony
The arrest marks a critical development in a case that has deeply affected the local community and prompted an intensive response from police investigators.
