Black Canyon City, AZ – June 1, 2025 — A quiet early morning in Black Canyon City was abruptly disrupted by a devastating house fire that prompted a swift emergency response and heroic actions from first responders. At approximately 4:30 AM on Sunday, Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the scene after flames were seen from Interstate 17, prompting concern from passing motorists and nearby residents.

The fire broke out in a manufactured home that was undergoing renovations to better accommodate a growing family. The residents—a husband, wife, and their four grandchildren—were all inside the home when the blaze began. According to initial reports, the grandfather woke to the smell of smoke, immediately sprang into action, and alerted the rest of the household, giving them precious moments to evacuate safely.

Daisy Mountain Fire & Medical, along with Glendale Fire Department crews, responded rapidly and battled the flames with urgency and precision. Despite the fast-moving fire and difficult conditions, firefighters were able to gain control after an intense effort. Their brave actions extended beyond saving the human lives—several family pets were also rescued, including a cat found struggling to breathe from heavy smoke inhalation. Firefighters provided immediate assistance to the animal, demonstrating their dedication to protecting all lives, human and animal alike.
