FATAL SHOOTING INVESTIGATION: Costa Mesa Police Probe Tragic Death of 20-Year-Old Monserrat Colorado

The Costa Mesa Police Department (CMPD) has launched an active homicide investigation following a fatal shooting late Monday night that claimed the life of Monserrat Colorado, a 20-year-old woman from Huntington Beach. The incident has shocked the community and prompted an urgent search for answers and accountability.
The Tragic Incident
Shortly after 11:10 p.m. on June 2, CMPD Communications began receiving multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire and a person down in the 1500 block of Lukup Lane, a residential area near Harbor Boulevard.
Responding officers arrived at the scene within minutes and discovered a young woman lying on the sidewalk, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel were immediately dispatched and rendered aid, but tragically, Monserrat Colorado was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Victim Identified
The victim has been identified as Monserrat Colorado, a 20-year-old Huntington Beach resident. Described by friends and family as a bright, compassionate, and deeply loved young woman, Monserrat’s sudden and violent death has left loved ones devastated and the wider Orange County community in mourning.
At this time, police have not released any information regarding a potential motive, suspect, or whether the incident was targeted or random. The investigation remains open and ongoing.
