AMBER Alert Issued for Missing 5-Year-Old Yasir Felton-Smith in Decatur, Georgia
ATLANTA, GA — A statewide AMBER Alert has been issued for 5-year-old Yasir Felton-Smith, a young boy who has gone missing from Decatur, Georgia under circumstances that authorities describe as extremely concerning. The DeKalb County Police Department, in coordination with state and federal authorities, has launched an urgent search for the child, who was last seen on Thursday, June 12, with Tia Lache Smith, a 23-year-old woman believed to be connected to his disappearance.
According to the alert, Yasir is believed to be in extreme danger. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) activated the AMBER Alert after gathering evidence that suggests the child may be at risk of serious harm.
Yasir Felton-Smith is described as a Black male child with black hair styled in a low haircut, brown eyes, and a slender build. At the time of his disappearance, he was reportedly not wearing a shirt, but was dressed in black sweatpants with green stripes and black Nike slides. He was last seen in the area of Decatur, a city in the Atlanta metropolitan area.
Who is Tia Lache Smith?
Tia Lache Smith, age 23, is currently considered a person of interest in the case. Authorities have not confirmed the nature of her relationship to Yasir but are urging the public to come forward with any information regarding her whereabouts. Her involvement in Yasir’s disappearance has triggered alarm, prompting law enforcement to treat the case as a high-priority abduction investigation.
