JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A routine afternoon turned deadly outside a popular local eatery when gunfire rang out near Copeland’s restaurant on Southside Boulevard. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) is actively investigating the tragic incident, which occurred on Wednesday afternoon, leaving one man dead and multiple individuals in police custody.

According to preliminary reports from JSO, the shooting took place in the parking lot of Copeland’s around 2:30 p.m. Officers responded swiftly to the scene after numerous 911 calls reported a disturbance and the sound of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts by Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department (JFRD) personnel, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene in which multiple individuals appeared to be involved in an altercation moments before shots were fired. Several suspects attempted to flee the scene but were quickly apprehended by officers in the vicinity.
