HEAVENER, OKLA. — A Tragic Shooting Leaves One Dead, Another Critically Injured in LeFlore County

HEAVENER, OKLA. — In the early hours of June 11, a small Oklahoma community was rocked by a tragic act of violence. Around 1 a.m., law enforcement responded to a shooting at an apartment located along State Highway 128 in Heavener, a town nestled in LeFlore County. The incident, now under active investigation, resulted in the death of a young man and left a woman fighting for her life.

According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), agents were called in to assist the Choctaw Nation Lighthorse Police, who serve areas of tribal jurisdiction. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered 20-year-old Dylan McGee deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. A 21-year-old woman was also found critically injured, having sustained similar wounds. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where, as of the evening of June 11, she remained in critical condition and was “fighting for her life.”

In a brief update, OSBI confirmed that there are no suspects currently at large, suggesting that authorities do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public. However, they did not provide details about whether anyone had been taken into custody. Investigators are still working to determine the exact circumstances leading up to the shooting.

Adding to the confusion and emotional toll of the day, OSBI initially reported that the injured woman had died from her injuries—a statement that was later retracted. Officials clarified that while her condition remains extremely serious, she is still alive and receiving medical treatment.

As the investigation continues, OSBI has remained tight-lipped about potential motives, whether the victims knew one another, or who may have fired the shots. The agency has also not disclosed whether the shooting occurred inside the apartment or outside the residence.

The incident has left the quiet town of Heavener stunned. Friends, family, and neighbors of the victims have begun expressing their grief on social media, sharing condolences and praying for the recovery of the injured woman. Dylan McGee, described by those who knew him as a kind-hearted young man with a bright future, is being mourned by loved ones struggling to process the senselessness of his death.

Authorities have asked anyone with information that might aid the investigation to come forward. In the meantime, the Choctaw Nation Lighthorse Police and OSBI continue to piece together the moments leading up to the gunfire that shattered the peace of this small Oklahoma town.

The case remains under active investigation.
