LEXINGTON, KY – A deadly act of violence has shaken a Lexington neighborhood as police investigate a fatal stabbing that occurred Wednesday evening on the city’s north side. The Lexington Police Department responded to an emergency call reporting a stabbing in the 500 block of Douglas Avenue at approximately 8:45 p.m. on June 11, 2025.
When officers arrived, they located a male victim suffering from a serious stab wound. Emergency medical personnel rendered aid on the scene before transporting the victim to a nearby hospital. Tragically, the victim succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
The Fayette County Coroner’s Office is currently withholding the name of the deceased pending notification of next of kin. The identity of the man remains undisclosed, though officials confirm the death is being investigated as a homicide.
According to preliminary information released by the Lexington Police Department, two male suspects were seen fleeing the scene around the time of the attack. Investigators believe the suspects are in their late teens or early twenties.
Police released brief descriptions of the suspects based on eyewitness reports. One of the individuals was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and black pants. The second suspect was dressed in all black clothing and white shoes. No additional identifying details have been made public at this time.
Authorities are urging residents in the area to check their security and doorbell camera footage from Wednesday evening, especially around the time of the incident. Detectives believe that video evidence could be instrumental in identifying the suspects and understanding the events leading up to the deadly encounter.
“This was a violent and tragic incident,” a spokesperson for Lexington Police said. “We know the community is hurting and we are committed to getting answers. We encourage anyone who saw or heard anything unusual last night, no matter how small, to contact us.”
No arrests have been made as of Wednesday night, and the investigation remains ongoing. Officers and crime scene investigators worked late into the evening collecting evidence and canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses.
Community members expressed shock and concern after learning of the fatal stabbing, with some residents saying they no longer feel safe walking the streets after dark.
“I’ve lived here for more than 15 years, and we’ve never seen anything like this,” said a local resident who declined to be named. “It’s devastating. We just hope the police find whoever did this before someone else gets hurt.”
