CLARKSVILLE, TN — A late-night incident in a typically quiet Clarksville neighborhood took a violent turn when officers with the Clarksville Police Department (CPD) responded to a report of a wanted individual and ended up investigating a shooting.

On the evening of [Thursday], June 12, around 11:00 p.m., CPD officers were dispatched to the area of Heritage Point Circle and Abby Creek Drive after receiving a tip from a concerned citizen who believed that someone in the vicinity might have an outstanding warrant. Officers began canvassing the area in search of the individual when they suddenly heard a gunshot ring out nearby.

Acting quickly, officers responded to the direction of the gunfire and located a vehicle parked on Abby Creek Drive. Inside were two adult males who had apparently been involved in some form of altercation. One of the individuals, who was seated in the front passenger seat, had sustained a gunshot wound to his leg.

Emergency medical responders arrived on the scene and determined that the victim required immediate trauma care. He was airlifted via LifeFlight helicopter to a hospital in Nashville for treatment. As of this time, his condition remains unknown, and his identity has not yet been released to the public.

Authorities have not confirmed the nature of the dispute between the two men, nor whether the shooting was accidental or intentional. The relationship between the individuals is still under investigation. No arrests have been announced in connection with the incident, and it remains unclear who discharged the firearm.

Police have emphasized that this appears to be an isolated event and that there is no ongoing threat to the surrounding community. Officers remained on the scene for several hours overnight, collecting evidence, speaking to nearby residents, and canvassing the neighborhood for any security footage or additional witnesses.
