Kendral Pickett Arrested After Chaotic High-Speed Chases and Police SUV Theft in Grand Prairie, Texas
GRAND PRAIRIE, TX — A dramatic series of events unfolded in North Texas when 22-year-old Kendral Pickett was taken into custody following not one, but two dangerous police chases, including the theft of a police vehicle. The incident, which began with the pursuit of a stolen Cadillac, escalated into a stunning escape attempt that has left the community shaken and authorities demanding answers.
The chaos began when Grand Prairie police attempted to stop a stolen Cadillac that Pickett was driving. Rather than pulling over, Pickett led officers on a high-speed pursuit, weaving through traffic and endangering countless motorists. After an intense chase, the vehicle was eventually stopped, and Pickett was taken into custody. During the arrest, he sustained a dog bite from a K-9 unit used to assist in the apprehension.
While awaiting medical attention for the dog bite, Pickett—who was handcuffed—managed to escape police custody. In a shocking turn of events, he commandeered a marked police SUV and once again fled the scene. Law enforcement quickly launched a second chase, this time pursuing one of their own vehicles across city lines.
The second chase came to a dramatic end in the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas, where the stolen police SUV crashed. Pickett was swiftly recaptured following the collision. Another individual believed to be connected to the initial events was also taken into custody, although police have not yet released further details about their identity or role.
Pickett now faces a slew of charges, including theft of a motor vehicle, evading arrest, escape while under arrest, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and more. Authorities also revealed that he was out on bond for a previous aggravated assault case at the time of the incident.
“This case is a reminder of the unpredictability and danger our officers face every day,” said a spokesperson from the Grand Prairie Police Department. “We are thankful that no officers or innocent civilians were seriously injured during these high-risk incidents.”
The investigation remains ongoing as officials continue piecing together the full scope of events and determine how Pickett was able to escape his restraints and access the police vehicle. The arrest and subsequent escape attempt have sparked renewed conversations around officer safety, detainee protocols, and the risks posed by repeat offenders.
Kendral Pickett is currently being held in custody as he awaits his next court appearance. Bond details on the new charges have yet to be released.
