SPRING HILL, TN — A 17-Year-Old Arrested After One-Year-Old Child Struck by Gunfire in Home Shooting Incident

Authorities in Spring Hill have arrested a 17-year-old male from Columbia, Tennessee, in connection with a harrowing overnight shooting that left a 22-month-old child injured. The Spring Hill Police Department (SHPD) confirmed that the juvenile now faces multiple felony charges, including Attempted Second-Degree Murder, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony, Aggravated Assault, and Reckless Endangerment by Discharging a Firearm into a Habitation.

The terrifying incident occurred just before 1 a.m. on June 6, 2025, in the 3000 block of Shandor Street, part of the quiet and family-oriented Harvest Pointe subdivision. According to police, officers were dispatched to the neighborhood after receiving reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, they discovered that a round had entered a residence from outside, striking a one-year-old child who had been sleeping peacefully inside the home.

Emergency medical responders quickly transported the injured toddler to a nearby hospital, where the child was reported to be in stable condition. Though stable, the child’s injuries have prompted concern and outrage in the community.

Investigators believe the violence erupted when a confrontation occurred between at least two parties. A person was reportedly standing on Shandor Street when a vehicle approached and stopped. Several occupants exited the vehicle, and an exchange of gunfire ensued between them and the individual on foot.

Preliminary forensic analysis and witness accounts suggest that as many as 15 rounds were discharged during the encounter. One of those bullets tragically found its way into the nearby home, piercing through walls and ultimately injuring the toddler.

The teenage suspect was taken into custody and booked following a rapid investigation that included surveillance footage review, shell casing analysis, and community cooperation. Due to the suspect’s age, authorities have not released his name. It remains unclear whether other suspects are being sought, though police have not ruled out the possibility of additional arrests as the investigation continues.

In a statement, SHPD officials emphasized their commitment to protecting the safety of residents and bringing all responsible individuals to justice. “This is an unimaginable act that could have easily resulted in a far greater tragedy,” said a department spokesperson. “We are grateful the child is expected to recover, and we will pursue this case with the seriousness it deserves.”

The Spring Hill Police Department has urged anyone with information about the incident or individuals involved to come forward. Tips can be provided anonymously.
