Tragedy at Studio City Private School: 15-Year-Old Killed in Parking Lot Incident

STUDIO CITY, Calif. — A heartbreaking tragedy struck the tight-knit community of Campbell Hall, a prestigious private school in Studio City, California, when a 15-year-old student was fatally injured in a parking lot accident on the afternoon of June 4, 2025.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that officers responded to the school just after 3:00 p.m. following reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. According to LAPD spokesperson David Cuellar, the teen was standing in the school parking lot when a green Rivian vehicle struck him, pinning him between two vehicles. The impact proved fatal.

Emergency services rushed the student and his father—who was present at the scene and uninjured—to a nearby hospital. Despite efforts to save him, the young boy was later pronounced dead, leaving his family and school community devastated.

“This is just a tragic incident overall,” Cuellar told reporters, his voice reflecting the deep sadness shared by first responders and all those impacted by the loss.

At this time, authorities believe the crash was accidental. The driver of the Rivian, whose identity has not been released, remained at the scene and is cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation. Cuellar stated that no arrest had been made, and initial findings suggest no criminal wrongdoing occurred.

The sudden loss of such a young life has cast a heavy shadow over Campbell Hall, a respected K-12 independent Episcopal day school known for its strong academic programs and close-knit student body. Grief counselors have been made available to students and faculty, and the school community is rallying to support the victim’s family during this unthinkable time.

The name of the teenager has not been officially released as authorities work to respect the privacy of the grieving family.

Messages of sympathy and support have poured in from across the city, as neighbors, fellow students, and community leaders offer condolences. A memorial of flowers, candles, and handwritten notes has begun to grow at the gates of Campbell Hall, reflecting the profound impact the young student had on those who knew him.

As the investigation continues, the focus remains on providing support to the family and school community as they grapple with the senseless nature of the loss. In the words of one parent at the school: “There are no words. All we can do is come together and hold this family in our hearts.”

This tragic accident serves as a sobering reminder of how quickly life can change, and of the importance of community, compassion, and care in the face of unimaginable sorrow.
