Gunfire Erupts at Oxford Valley Mall Bus Stop; One Critically Injured in Broad Daylight Shooting
LANGHORNE, Pa. — June 19, 2025 — A terrifying incident disrupted the afternoon calm in Langhorne on Thursday when gunfire rang out near the Oxford Valley Mall, leaving one person shot and prompting a rapid police response. The shooting occurred at a bus stop situated on the mall’s property, near 2300 Lincoln Highway — a busy thoroughfare typically filled with shoppers, commuters, and families.
Authorities say the shooting happened in broad daylight, around 2:45 p.m., just outside the mall’s perimeter, close to one of the public transportation stops commonly used by SEPTA riders. Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots, followed by screams and a rush of people fleeing from the scene in panic.
Emergency calls quickly flooded into Bucks County dispatch, triggering a swift response from the Middletown Township Police Department, Bucks County Sheriff’s Office, and other local agencies. First responders arrived within minutes to secure the area and provide medical aid to the victim, who was found with at least one gunshot wound.
The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, was treated at the scene by paramedics before being transported to St. Mary Medical Center. As of Thursday evening, the victim’s condition was listed as critical but stable. Authorities have not yet disclosed any potential motives behind the shooting or confirmed whether the victim was specifically targeted.
The area surrounding the bus stop was cordoned off with police tape as officers conducted a thorough search for evidence. Crime scene investigators could be seen examining the scene, collecting shell casings, and reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses, including cameras mounted on mall property and public transit facilities.
Shoppers and workers inside the Oxford Valley Mall were not evacuated, but security presence was immediately heightened throughout the shopping complex. Several stores temporarily locked their doors out of an abundance of caution.
Middletown Township Police Chief Joseph Bartorilla addressed the media later in the afternoon, emphasizing that the situation was quickly contained and posed no further threat to the public.
“This was an isolated incident, but it occurred in a very public space. Our officers acted swiftly to secure the area, render aid, and begin investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting,” said Chief Bartorilla. “We understand how alarming this was for everyone in the area and we are doing everything in our power to identify the shooter and bring them to justice.”
As of Thursday evening, no arrests have been made, but police confirmed they are pursuing several leads. Witnesses at the scene described a possible suspect fleeing on foot, but descriptions varied, and officials are urging anyone with information to come forward.
“We’re asking the public to assist us — anyone who saw anything suspicious or has dashcam or cellphone footage from the area around 2:30 to 3:00 p.m., please contact Middletown Township Police,” Bartorilla added.
The Oxford Valley Mall, a prominent retail and entertainment hub in Bucks County, remained open following the incident, but the shooting has reignited concerns about public safety in and around high-traffic commercial areas. Local officials are reviewing security protocols in partnership with mall management and public transit authorities.
Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Schorn also issued a statement, vowing a thorough investigation and full prosecution of those responsible.
“We will not tolerate this kind of reckless violence in our community,” Schorn said. “We are committed to working with law enforcement to ensure the individual or individuals involved are held fully accountable.”
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Middletown Township Police Department at (215) 750-3845, or anonymously through the department’s tip line.
As the community processes the shock of the afternoon’s events, many residents have expressed gratitude for the rapid police response, while also calling for renewed focus on preventing gun violence in public spaces.
