Remembering William “Boone” Holland: A Little Boy Who Brought Big Joy

PRINCETON, NC — With hearts full of both sorrow and gratitude, the community of Princeton and all who knew him pause to remember and honor the short but incredibly meaningful life of William “Boone” Holland. Boone, age 4, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, June 19, 2025, surrounded by love. Born on May 8, 2021, in Wake County, Boone was the treasured son of William and Madison Holland, who poured their hearts into creating a joyful and nurturing world for their beloved little boy.

From the moment Boone entered the world, he radiated a light that could brighten even the darkest of days. His presence was pure joy — playful, tender, and full of boundless curiosity. Though only four years old, Boone lived with a joyful intensity that left a deep impression on all who had the blessing of knowing him.

Whether it was the thrill of seeing a firetruck rush by, the delight he found in a bowl of Bojangles mashed potatoes, or the sparkle in his eyes as he chased bubbles through the backyard, Boone’s passions were simple and heartfelt. Mondays were made magical by his favorite indulgence — chocolate chip pizza — and every ride on the lawnmower became an exciting adventure. He loved to swim, roughhouse, and laugh with abandon, often leading the way in play with cousins and family, his cheerful energy infectious.

Boone’s bright spirit was also reflected in his deep affection for those closest to him. He adored his parents, who doted on him with limitless love, and was a source of great joy to his extended family. He formed unique, unforgettable bonds with his grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. His love knew no bounds — and neither did the love he received in return.

Boone is preceded in death by those who now hold him in Heaven: his great-grandparents Teresa and Tony Quayle, Donald Crumpler, Larry Holland Sr., and Thurman Pilkington; and his great-uncle Dean Pilkington. While their absence on earth is deeply felt, there is peace in knowing Boone has been welcomed into their arms.

He leaves behind a family who will forever carry his memory in their hearts: his devoted parents, William and Madison; his grandparents Melodie and Larry Isaacs, Crystal and John Pilkington, and Larry Holland of Zebulon; and great-grandmothers Ellen Crumpler (Albert) and Patricia Holland. Boone was also dearly loved by his aunts and uncles — Katelyne Holland (CJ Edwards), Caitlin Valdez (Martin Valdez), Cameron Isaacs, Elizabeth Pilkington (Thomas), and Patrick Pilkington — and by his many cousins who cherished his company and smile: Kailey Sutton, Wyatt Bourque, Emersyn Jones, Paisley Carpenter, Juliana Valdez, Antonio Valdez, River Edwards, Hunter Edwards, Jackson Edwards, and Kolter Edwards.

To honor Boone’s bright and beautiful life, a visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Parrish Funeral Home. In a loving tribute to the joy he brought, the family invites attendees to wear bright colors — a reflection of Boone’s radiant spirit. A funeral service will follow on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at Parrish Funeral Home, with Boone being laid to rest at 214 Evans Road, Princeton.

Though Boone’s time on earth was far too short, his impact was vast and enduring. His laughter lingers in the air, his hugs remain etched in memory, and his pure joy continues to inspire those left behind. He taught everyone around him the value of love, the beauty of small moments, and the power of a single, shining soul to light up the lives of many.

The Holland family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Pine Level Elementary School Abil-OT for the care, encouragement, and support they provided during Boone’s journey.

In every bubble floating skyward, every flash of siren lights, every joyful shriek of play — Boone will be there. Forever remembered, forever missed, and forever loved.
