DETECTIVES ARREST MAN FOLLOWING DEADLY WEEKEND SHOOTING IN ANDERSON, SOUTH CAROLINA

ANDERSON, S.C. — A community is reeling and seeking answers after a violent shooting late Saturday night claimed the life of a 35-year-old woman and left nine others injured. In the aftermath of what officials are calling a senseless act of violence, detectives have charged 18-year-old Tiyelle Rakelle Demon Hollings with Murder and Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime.

The deadly incident unfolded along Scarborough Road in a densely populated Anderson County neighborhood, where a large crowd—estimated in the hundreds—had gathered for a weekend event. The peaceful evening turned chaotic as gunfire erupted, sending people scrambling for safety and drawing more than 100 first responders to the scene in a desperate attempt to triage victims and restore order.

According to preliminary findings, detectives believe that Hollings opened fire into the crowd, discharging multiple rounds in what appears to be a reckless and indiscriminate act. Tragically, Laporshia Cobb, a 35-year-old mother, was struck and fatally wounded. Authorities have clarified that Cobb and many of the other victims were innocent bystanders caught in the spray of bullets.

In total, ten individuals were shot, with three victims still hospitalized as of Monday morning. Their conditions have not been released, but officials indicate that they continue to receive treatment. The incident has sent shockwaves throughout the Anderson community, where residents are left grieving, frightened, and searching for reasons behind the violence.

“This tragedy has devastated our community,” said a spokesperson for the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office. “We have a mother whose life was taken far too soon, families whose lives will never be the same, and a neighborhood left traumatized. Our detectives acted swiftly and meticulously to secure evidence, identify the shooter, and make an arrest.”

The Anderson County Criminal Investigation Division led the effort to piece together the events of that night, interviewing witnesses, analyzing surveillance footage, and collecting forensic evidence. While Hollings is the only individual charged at this time, investigators emphasized that the investigation is still very active, and additional arrests remain possible.

“This remains an open and evolving case,” officials added. “We are actively pursuing additional leads and potential persons of interest. We owe it to the victims and to this community to bring everyone responsible to justice.”

Hollings is currently being held at the Anderson County Detention Center and is expected to appear before a judge later today for an initial hearing. Prosecutors have not yet announced if additional or upgraded charges will be filed.

In the meantime, the community continues to mourn the loss of Laporshia Cobb, whose life was taken in a moment of chaos that could have been prevented. Friends and neighbors describe her as a devoted mother and kind-hearted woman whose presence lit up every room. A candlelight vigil is reportedly being planned in her honor.

Officials are urging anyone who attended the event or who has information—no matter how minor it may seem—to come forward and aid in the ongoing investigation. The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office has reiterated their commitment to bringing full accountability in this heartbreaking case.

As the legal process begins, the scars of this weekend’s violence are likely to remain for some time. But for now, the community’s focus is on healing, remembering those affected, and supporting law enforcement in their pursuit of justice.
