Shooting Suspect Identified: Rowlett Police Searching for 17-Year-Old Xavier Sen’cer Stevenson
ROWLETT, TX — A community is on edge and police are intensifying their efforts as the search continues for 17-year-old Xavier Sen’cer Stevenson, who has been officially identified as the suspect in a recent shooting that left a teenage victim injured in Rowlett, Texas.
The incident unfolded during what authorities describe as an arranged meeting to exchange items — a transaction that turned violent and has now become the center of a full-scale investigation. According to Rowlett Police, the encounter, which appeared to have been coordinated ahead of time, quickly escalated into gunfire, injuring the teenage victim, who was subsequently rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. The victim’s current condition has not been publicly disclosed but is believed to be stable.
Following the shooting, investigators gathered witness statements, reviewed surveillance footage, and identified Xavier Sen’cer Stevenson as the individual responsible for the assault. Law enforcement officials have since issued a warrant for Stevenson’s arrest and are urging the public to assist in locating him.
“This was a pre-arranged meeting that took a dangerous and violent turn,” said a spokesperson for the Rowlett Police Department. “We want to remind our community to exercise extreme caution when meeting individuals for any type of transaction. And most importantly, we need the public’s help in finding Xavier Stevenson so that he can be brought into custody and face the judicial process.”
Authorities have not released additional details about the nature of the items being exchanged, citing the ongoing investigation. However, police have emphasized that anyone harboring Stevenson or obstructing the investigation may face legal consequences.
Stevenson is described as a Black male, 17 years old, with a medium build. Police are urging anyone who sees him or has information about his whereabouts to contact the Rowlett Police Department at (972) 412-6200. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 1-877-TIPSTX-1 or online.
In the meantime, the incident has sparked renewed calls for safer methods of person-to-person transactions. Police advise the public to use designated “safe exchange zones” — often monitored areas in police station parking lots — when buying, selling, or trading goods with individuals met online.
Community members have expressed concern over the incident, particularly given the young ages of both the suspect and the victim.
“It’s heartbreaking to see kids turning to violence,” said one Rowlett resident. “We have to do more to address the roots of these problems — mental health, conflict resolution, and education — before more lives are lost or shattered.”
As the investigation continues, the Rowlett Police Department remains focused on bringing Xavier Sen’cer Stevenson into custody and ensuring accountability for this violent crime.
