Evansville, Indiana – With profound sadness and heavy hearts, the Evansville community comes together to mourn the loss of DeShawna Movae Givens, who passed away on June 15, 2025, at the young age of 34. Her sudden departure leaves a deep void in the lives of her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Yet, her radiant spirit, unwavering love, and legacy of kindness will continue to shine through those she touched during her too-brief time on Earth.

DeShawna was a woman of grace, strength, and compassion — known by many for her warm smile, her listening ear, and her ability to lift up others, even in the midst of her own trials. She was more than just a beloved daughter, sister, and friend — she was a pillar of support in her community, a protector of those she loved, and most importantly, a devoted mother to her cherished son, Dorian Lamar Givens II, who was the light of her life.

A proud native of Evansville, Indiana, DeShawna found joy in both the simple and the profound: the laughter shared with loved ones over dinner, the comfort of a Sunday morning at church, the thrill of music and movement, and the fulfillment that came from encouraging others. Whether volunteering her time, giving advice to younger women, or simply offering her shoulder to someone in need, she had a way of making people feel seen, heard, and valued.

DeShawna is survived by her beloved son, Dorian, who will forever carry her strength, spirit, and love in his heart. A visitation and funeral service to honor DeShawna’s life will be held on June 27, 2025, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Evansville.
