Grayson Meyers has been identified as the victim who was fatally shot on the night of Friday, June 27, during an altercation inside Peaches Corner, a historic restaurant that has served generations of locals and tourists since 1937.

The Myrtle Beach Police Department confirmed Meyers’ identity Saturday morning, as the investigation into the fatal shooting continues. A second individual — an innocent bystander crossing the street near 9th Avenue North and Ocean Boulevard — was also injured in the gunfire, but is expected to recover after being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

According to law enforcement, the incident began as a verbal altercation between Meyers and Evany McCray, a 17-year-old employee of Peaches Corner. The confrontation quickly escalated, and McCray allegedly pulled a firearm from his waistband and opened fire inside the crowded restaurant. Grayson Meyers was struck by the gunfire and later pronounced dead at the scene, despite efforts by emergency responders.

In a shocking turn, Evany McCray of Conway, S.C., is being charged as an adult in connection with the deadly incident. Charges against McCray include:
