Tulsa, OK – June 30, 2025 — A frightening act of random violence shocked the Tulsa community Monday evening when gunfire erupted at a bus stop near the QuikTrip located at 11th and Utica, leaving two men injured and leading to the arrest of 23-year-old Jose Guillen.
Around 5:30 p.m., a Tulsa Police officer in the area was flagged down by witnesses reporting a shooting that had just taken place. When officers arrived at the scene, they found two male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One man had been shot in the leg, and the other had a wound to the shoulder. Emergency responders transported both individuals to the hospital, where they are currently being treated for their injuries. Authorities have stated that the wounds appear to be non-life-threatening.
Witnesses at the scene told police that a white Lexus sedan approached the bus stop and, without any warning or provocation, someone from inside the vehicle opened fire on the unsuspecting individuals before speeding away. Surveillance footage confirmed the account, and investigators immediately began working to identify and locate the vehicle.
Detectives were able to trace the Lexus to an apartment complex in the 5000 block of South 136th East Avenue. Later that evening, around 10:00 p.m., officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle. The driver, later identified as Jose Guillen, refused to stop, leading police on a brief pursuit before eventually pulling over.
Upon searching the vehicle, officers recovered several shell casings that are believed to be linked to the earlier shooting. Guillen was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Tulsa County Jail, where he was booked on two counts of Shooting With Intent to Kill.
Authorities have emphasized that this is currently an arrest, not a conviction, and Jose Guillen is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
Investigators have not yet determined a motive for the attack, and the shooting appears to be completely unprovoked. The Tulsa Police Department continues to investigate the incident, urging anyone with additional information or video footage to come forward.
The names of the victims have not yet been released, but both are expected to recover. This senseless act of violence has rattled the local community, prompting calls for heightened safety and awareness in public spaces.
Tulsa Police officials praised the swift actions of officers and the cooperation of the public, which allowed for the rapid identification and arrest of the suspect. As the investigation continues, authorities remain committed to ensuring that justice is served and that those impacted by this violence receive the support they need.
