Albany Police Investigating Deadly Double Shooting on West Highland Avenue

Albany, GA – The Albany Police Department is actively investigating a double shooting that occurred on Thursday afternoon, July 3, 2025, leaving one young man dead and another injured. The incident took place around 4:37 p.m. in the 1600 block of West Highland Avenue, a residential area that has seen its share of violent incidents in recent months.

According to police officials, officers responded swiftly to reports of gunfire and found two male victims suffering from gunshot wounds upon arrival at the scene. Emergency medical responders transported both individuals to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for urgent treatment.

Tragically, one of the victims, 19-year-old Jamarion King, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The name and condition of the second victim have not been made public at this time.

The Albany Police Department has not released any additional details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including a possible motive or any suspect information. The investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement is urging anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward.

Jamarion King’s death has devastated his family and friends, many of whom took to social media to express their sorrow and disbelief. Described as a “kind-hearted” and “ambitious” young man with dreams of going to trade school, his untimely death has left a painful void.
