PORT CHARLOTTE, FL – A longstanding dispute between two local teens turned deadly on Saturday evening, ending with the tragic death of 17-year-old Anthony Steven Romero and the injury of 19-year-old Michael Balunas, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).
Deputies responded to a 911 call reporting gunshots around 5:20 p.m. on July 5 in the 22000 block of Hernando Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered both Romero and Balunas suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel treated both victims at the scene.
