Tragic Fatal Crash on US 24 Near 600 East Claims Life of Wabash Man

CASS COUNTY, IN — A quiet Saturday afternoon turned tragic when a devastating two-vehicle collision on July 5th, 2025, resulted in the untimely death of 28-year-old James Dolmanet of Wabash. The fatal crash occurred just after 12:00 p.m. at the intersection of US Highway 24 and County Road 600 East, sending shockwaves through both the Wabash and Cass County communities.

According to initial findings from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, the crash involved a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, driven by 21-year-old Kobi Martindale of Kewanna, and a Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by Dolmanet. Investigators report that Martindale, who was traveling northbound on CR 600 East, allegedly failed to yield and crossed into the westbound lanes of US 24, directly into the path of Dolmanet’s oncoming motorcycle.

The resulting collision was catastrophic. Emergency responders, including medics and fire personnel, rushed to the scene and immediately called for a medical helicopter. Tragically, due to the severity of his injuries, James Dolmanet was pronounced dead at the scene before air transport could be arranged. Authorities confirmed that Dolmanet’s family has since been notified of his passing.

The driver of the Silverado, Kobi Martindale, and an unidentified passenger declined medical treatment at the scene. At this time, authorities do not suspect impairment to be a contributing factor in the crash. However, as standard protocol, toxicology screenings have been requested, and the Cass County crash reconstructionist continues to examine all details of the collision.

Due to the extensive scene and the ongoing investigation, US 24 was closed for approximately two hours, causing traffic delays as crews worked to clear the wreckage and document evidence.
