MEDIA RELEASE UPDATE: Jawarren Johnson Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Collision on Eisenhower Parkway

Macon, Georgia – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating a tragic traffic accident that resulted in the death of 27-year-old Jawarren Johnson, a resident of Macon. The fatal incident occurred just before 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9, on the 1600 block of Eisenhower Parkway.

Emergency calls to the Macon-Bibb E-911 Center reported that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle. When deputies arrived on the scene, they found Johnson unresponsive in the roadway. Investigators learned that a Chevy pickup truck, traveling eastbound on Eisenhower Parkway, struck Johnson as he was reportedly running across the roadway.

Johnson was transported to a local hospital for emergency treatment. Despite the best efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival. Coroner Leon Jones confirmed Johnson’s identity and stated that his next of kin have been notified.

The driver of the Chevy truck remained at the scene and is cooperating fully with law enforcement. No other injuries were reported.

This incident is currently under investigation by the Bibb County Fatality Investigations Unit. Authorities are working to determine all circumstances surrounding the collision, including whether any additional factors contributed to the accident.
