According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the fatal crash occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m., near the 40-mile marker, just north of Eutaw. State Troopers confirmed that Lorenzo Cherry Jr. was driving a 2020 Honda Accord when his vehicle struck the rear of a 2024 Ford F-350, driven by Ray A. Colvin, 59, of Carrollton.
The collision had catastrophic consequences. Following the impact, both vehicles ignited, resulting in a fiery scene that emergency responders battled upon arrival. Tragically, Lorenzo Cherry Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene due to the injuries he sustained in the collision and subsequent fire.
Ray Colvin, the driver of the Ford F-350, sustained injuries in the crash and was transported to Northport Medical Center in Northport for treatment. His current condition has not been publicly released.
