Cleveland, Ohio – It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Devonte L. Eason, who departed this life peacefully on June 30, 2025, at the young age of 25. Though his time on earth was brief, his presence left a lasting impact on everyone who had the honor of knowing and loving him.
Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Devonte was a bright light to those around him—always quick with a smile, a laugh, or a helping hand. He brought warmth, humor, and sincerity into every space he entered. Whether he was spending time with family, encouraging his friends, or simply being present, Devonte lived a life filled with love and purpose.
He was the beloved son of Vernice Eason and Charlie D. Rogers, both of whom cherished him deeply. Devonte was a devoted brother, a caring grandson, a loyal friend, and a soul whose kindness extended far beyond his years. He was the kind of person who never let a loved one go without knowing how much they meant to him.
Devonte’s family circle includes siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, and a wide network of extended relatives and friends who now feel an immense void in his absence. While his physical presence is no longer with us, his spirit—his laughter, compassion, and infectious energy—will continue to live on in our memories and in the countless lives he touched.
To honor Devonte’s life, the family will be holding services at Gaines Funeral Home in Maple Heights, Ohio. A public viewing will take place on Thursday, July 11, 2025, followed by a wake and funeral service on Friday, July 12, 2025. Family, friends, and members of the community are warmly invited to gather in remembrance, to celebrate his life, and to say goodbye.
Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that Devonte’s legacy of love and light will endure. We will remember him not only for who he was, but for the way he made us feel—seen, supported, and loved. His life was a beautiful chapter in our story, and his memory will forever be engraved in the hearts of those who carry him with them.
In this time of mourning, we ask for your continued prayers and support for the Eason and Rogers families. May Devonte rest in eternal peace, and may we honor him by living with the same love, integrity, and authenticity he so effortlessly shared with the world.
“To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die.”
Rest easy, Devonte. You will never be forgotten.
