Two Women Arrested in Connection to Daring Orleans Parish Jailbreak; Authorities Probe Inside Job as Five Inmates Remain at Large

Two women have been arrested for allegedly assisting in the escape of inmates from the Orleans Parish Correctional Facility in New Orleans, Louisiana. The escape occurred on May 16, 2025, when ten inmates managed to flee the facility by exploiting a hole behind a toilet in their cell. The inmates, some of whom were facing serious charges including murder and attempted murder, left behind mocking messages such as “To Easy LOL” on the cell wall.

Authorities have since recaptured five of the escapees, while five remain at large. The escape has been characterized as an “inside job,” with a maintenance worker, Sterling Williams, arrested for allegedly turning off the water supply to the cell, facilitating the removal of the toilet and sink without triggering alarms.

In addition to Williams, two women have been arrested for their roles in assisting the escapees. One of the women, identified as Jasmina Mahoney, 26, was arrested for helping an inmate escape from a correctional facility in Lafayette, Louisiana. Mahoney allegedly arranged transportation for the inmate, who was later found in a hotel room and arrested.

The second woman, Kenione Rogers, 32, was arrested for assisting her son, a juvenile offender, in escaping from custody. Rogers allegedly provided transportation for her son following his escape from the Juvenile Justice Center in New Orleans. She was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Prison.

The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the escape and the involvement of individuals both inside and outside the facility. Sheriff Susan Hutson has acknowledged the possibility of internal complicity and has suspended three employees pending the outcome of the investigation. The incident has prompted calls for increased security measures and a comprehensive review of jail protocols.

As the manhunt for the remaining escapees continues, authorities urge anyone with information to come forward. The escape has raised concerns about the security and oversight of correctional facilities in Louisiana, highlighting the need for systemic reforms to prevent future incidents.
