The St. Petersburg, Florida community is mourning the unexpected passing of John Roether, a beloved resident and respected professional, who died in May 2025. John was a dedicated sales representative at Smith & Nephew, known for his commitment to improving patient outcomes and supporting healthcare professionals across the region.
Beyond his professional achievements, John was deeply involved in his community and faith. He was an active member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, where his humility and kindness left a lasting impression. In 2019, a significant moment for his family was the baptism of his daughter, Lyla Clemens Roether, during the church’s 9:30 a.m. Mass on the first Sunday of Advent.
John is survived by his loving wife, Lauren Roether, and their cherished daughter, Lyla. He also leaves behind his parents, Richard and Elaine Roether, and siblings Michael Roether and Sarah Roether Whitman. His family, friends, and colleagues remember him for his gentle nature, principled leadership, and genuine warmth.
Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in St. Petersburg, with further details to be announced by the Roether family. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to St. Paul’s Catholic Church or local children’s health initiatives in John’s memory.
