SHREVEPORT, LA — Shreveport Police Corporal Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault of Underage Family Member
SHREVEPORT, LA — A disturbing and deeply troubling allegation has shaken the Shreveport Police Department after one of its own was arrested in connection with the alleged sexual assault of an underage family member. Cpl. Arthur Green, a longtime officer with the department, was formally taken into custody on Sunday, June 16, 2025, following the opening of an internal and criminal investigation just two days earlier.
The investigation into Green’s conduct began on Friday, June 14, after Shreveport authorities received a report involving an accusation of sexual assault. According to early reports, the alleged assault took place while Green was off-duty and involved a juvenile member of his family. The report immediately triggered a response from law enforcement officials, who moved quickly to begin interviews, collect forensic evidence, and involve the appropriate child advocacy professionals.
Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith confirmed Green’s arrest and expressed deep concern over the incident during a press briefing held Monday morning.
“This is an incredibly serious matter,” Chief Smith said. “The allegations made are deeply disturbing, and they have been met with immediate action. While this case is in its early stages, we have an absolute duty to uphold the integrity of our badge and ensure justice is pursued — regardless of who is involved.”
Green was initially placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the internal investigation, in accordance with departmental protocol. However, following the preliminary findings of the investigation and in consultation with the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office, detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest. He was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center Sunday evening and is currently charged with one count of first-degree rape, a felony that carries severe legal consequences in the state of Louisiana.
The Shreveport Police Department has not released additional details regarding the timeline of the alleged abuse or the specific age of the victim, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation and the need to protect the identity and well-being of the child involved. The department has, however, reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and to cooperating fully with all prosecutorial efforts moving forward.
In a written statement, Chief Smith acknowledged the pain and anger this news may cause both within the department and among the public.
“No one is above the law, and we take all allegations of this nature extremely seriously,” the chief stated. “If these allegations are proven, this represents a profound betrayal of public trust and of the duty officers swear to uphold. We will not tolerate such conduct within our ranks.”
The arrest has sent shockwaves throughout the Shreveport community and among Green’s colleagues, many of whom expressed disbelief and distress upon hearing the news. As a veteran officer, Green had served with the department for over a decade, holding various assignments, including patrol and community outreach — making the nature of the allegations all the more alarming.
City officials have also weighed in, with Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux stating that while the city supports the work of its police officers, it will not shield anyone from the consequences of criminal behavior.
“We are a city that believes in justice and accountability,” Mayor Arceneaux said. “This situation is devastating for everyone involved, but our primary concern must be the welfare of the child and ensuring a full and impartial investigation is carried out.”
Child welfare advocates and victim support organizations have begun mobilizing to ensure that appropriate services and counseling are available for the victim and any affected family members. The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services is reportedly also involved in the case.
As the legal process begins, Green is expected to face an arraignment later this week. Prosecutors have indicated they will request that he be held without bond due to the severity of the charge and the risk he may pose to the alleged victim or other potential witnesses.
This arrest comes at a time when law enforcement agencies across the country are grappling with increased scrutiny and demands for transparency and ethical accountability. For the Shreveport Police Department, the days and weeks ahead will likely involve not only legal proceedings, but also internal reviews of hiring, oversight, and reporting procedures.
In the meantime, Chief Smith has urged the community to allow the justice system to do its work while affirming the department’s unwavering support for victims of abuse.
“We want to make one thing absolutely clear — no matter who the perpetrator may be, we will stand with the victims,” Smith concluded. “Our department will do everything within its power to ensure the truth comes to light and that justice is served.”
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to contact the Shreveport Police Department or Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373.
