UPDATE: Fatal Shooting in Yemassee

Hampton County, S.C. — The Hampton County Sheriff’s Office is providing an update regarding a tragic shooting incident that occurred late Sunday evening, April 27, 2025, in the Yemassee area.

At approximately 10:00 p.m., deputies responded to reports of gunfire near the intersection of Ishmel Road and Simmons Street. Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers discovered a male victim inside a vehicle. The individual, identified as Tyshawn Shaw, 21, of Yemassee, South Carolina, had suffered fatal gunshot wounds.

Emergency medical services were immediately called to the scene. Despite life-saving efforts, Mr. Shaw was pronounced deceased on-site by Hampton County Coroner Anna Fields, who responded to the location to assist with the investigation.

Additionally, deputies learned that a juvenile had also sustained injuries during the incident. The juvenile was transported via privately owned vehicle (POV) to a nearby medical facility for urgent medical care. At this time, the juvenile’s condition remains unknown.

The Hampton County Sheriff’s Office has launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. At present, no arrests have been made. Detectives continue to actively pursue leads and are working diligently to identify any suspects involved. Investigators are encouraging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information to come forward. Tips can be provided anonymously by contacting the Hampton County Sheriff’s Office or Crime Stoppers.

The Sheriff’s Office also expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts of local and state agencies. “We would like to sincerely thank the Yemassee Police Department, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), and Hampton County Coroner Anna Fields for their swift response, professionalism, and ongoing assistance throughout the investigation,” the department stated.
