In the early hours of Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, the West Dallas community was shaken by a tragic act of violence that claimed the life of 24-year-old Maurisha Givens.
At approximately 2:00 a.m., Dallas Police Department officers responded to a shooting call in the 5800 block of Bernal Drive, near State Highway 12. Upon arrival, they discovered Givens suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite the prompt response from Dallas Fire-Rescue, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
